WHEN WE ARE AGILE IT IS EASY TO SPOT THAT LEGENDS LIKE JORDON, FEDERER AND KOBE ETC ... ARE THE BEST OF BEST BECAUSE THEY ARE AGILE

THEY DON'T ONLY DO AS PLANNED

SOMETIMES

THEY STEP OFF PLAN

TO FIND DIFFERENT WAYS TO PUSH THE BOUNDARIES OF WHAT EVERYONE THINKS IS POSSIBLE

Lead coach

JON THORNE

A former Leeds Carnegie player, now with St Albans Basketball Club, some of that sports science pedigree for which Leeds Beckett University (Carnegie campus) is known, must have rubbed off on him as it would be true to say that Jon is not a conventional coach. In his own words, he brings an agile approach to the game, building agile teams by coaching players to be agile thinkers, capable of reacting and responding in real-time. He is Mr. Agility!

Jon's philosophy is to encourage players solve the puzzle set by the opposition; to adapt when the opposition is disrupting their preferred way of playing; to adapt and 'push the edges' of what players thought they could do and to discover what they didn’t know they could do; to find their 'what is next?' in raising their game and ultimately the performance of the team. Coaching agile teams is Jon's mantra, but he does stress its also about enjoyment and laughter.

WE ARE OPEN TO EVERYONE

The change of emphasis from the “technical and athletic” to “agile thinking" often re-motivates players. It re-motivates players who have reached their technical and athletic potential. It re-motivates players whose technical and athletic potential is reducing as they grow older. It re-motivates those who gave up coached sports because they lack technical and athletic abilities. Agile coaching can also help prepare gifted young players for a long and successful professional career. Everyone can discover what they didn’t know they could do. Everyone can find their "what is next".

Players share an experience of finding different adaptations, combinations, and variations in coordinated moments of spontaneity, self expression and collective improvisation to discover what they didn’t know they could do
